Films and bottles can be made from thermoplastic materials such as bio-based polyethylene terephthalate


The esterification reaction creates a polymer known as polyethylene terephthalate from the combination of two monomers, purified terephthalic acid and modified ethylene glycol. The creation of synthetic fibres, bottles, and other items uses it primarily. It can withstand extreme temperatures and is tough. The primary distinction between PET and Bio-Based Polyethylene Terephthalate Market is that whereas the former employs non-biodegradable materials to create PET, the later uses biodegradable materials to create the end product polymer.

Purified PTA (terephthalic acid), a chemical-based product of crude oil, and MEG (monoethylene glycol), a byproduct of sugarcane ethanol, make up bio-based polyethylene terephthalate. Due to its low weight and ability to break down naturally, bio-based polyethylene terephthalate is used in the packaging of culinary oils, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
