Drawbacks of the Unsaturated Polyester Resins

One of the main drawbacks of UPRs is their limited heat resistance. They can become brittle at high temperatures and may experience thermal degradation. This makes them unsuitable for use in applications where high temperatures are encountered.

In terms of sustainability, unsaturated polyester resins are made from renewable resources and can be recycled, which helps to reduce waste and conserve resources. However, the production of UPRs can generate significant amounts of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which can contribute to air pollution and have negative impacts on the environment. To minimize these impacts, manufacturers are increasingly using low-VOC UPRs and implementing environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes.
